Last pictures from Comiskey Park

Me, at U.S. Cellular Field (Comiskey Park), down at the front after the game.  The railing at the front is very low, only about knee high, so you have to be careful not to fall over it onto the field!

Space Needle pictures

View looking South from the top of the Space Needle:

My pudding caused quite a stir when it was brought out (I have a video too):

And the view over the city was clear this evening with the roof open, and the game going on for 4 hours as it went 14 innings:

Meeting

This afternoon, I went out for a drink with an old friend from university: Stuart Goose.  He's working for Siemens in Berkeley and lives in the area, where he was a nice view out over the bay towards the Golden Gate bridge (when it's not shrouded in fog).  It was nice to meet up with somebody and find out what he'd been up to since leaving Southampton.

AT&T Park pictures from Friday night

These pictures were taken on Friday night, when the Dodgers luckily won 10-3.

I was sitting just in front of the radio and TV booths.  On the far left in the radio commentary booth, the famous broadcaster from Sunday Night Baseball, and radio announcer for the Giants, Jon Miller:

Another hotel

When I got back from Yosemite late on Thursday night, I asked at the front desk why the room rate goes up from $179 to $249 a night for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Demand for rooms, was the answer, and it was clear no chance of any discount, so I checked out on Friday morning and less than an hour later, I'm in my room the other side of the bay at the Courtyard Marriott in Oakland, costing $99 a night instead.  It's a 20-minute BART ride to San Francisco (costing $3.10) and it saves me $450 in total.

Tennis extra

I saw the end of the tennis on ESPN this evening. After wrapping up a relatively straightforward victory, Djokovic took on another opponent, who had raced down from the commentary booth, having discarded his suit jacket, but otherwise, unchanged and appeared on court swinging a racket around to warm up (IT Botham style). John McEnroe then proceeded to serve and apart from one double fault, won 2 of the three points they played for fun, although he did look very hot and sweaty afterwards! Today's game at Coords field (Reds @ Rockies) is on the main blog. I finally had a decent-sized dinner this evening at the Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery. The portions were normal rather than being mountains of food on a plate. Even the ice cream dessert was just three small scoops, tastefully arranged on a plate - although I did have to ask for a spoon, as it's quite awkward eating fast-melting ice cream with a fork!

Diamondbacks @ Rockies

I saw another rare-ish event in the game on Sunday! Chris Young hit 3 home runs in the game. Everybody was cheering him on for a fourth at the end of the game, even the home fans - although probably because they had an 8 run lead. The club level is very nice. I was in a row all on my own, though, which is odd because the Rockies are doing so well. I haven't had a chance to do anything with pictures. I'm not sure how to do that on here.

Washington updates complete

I've arrived safely in my hotel in Denver. I was very pleased that they allowed me to checkin at 11am. Not so pleased at the $12.95 per day for Internet access, but the room rate is very cheap and this is a proper Marriott hotel, in the most expensive part of town!
