Journey to New York
I made my way up to Union Station this morning for my train to New York - fortunately, all the lifts I needed were in order to get up and down to the platforms and transfer at Gallery Place. I'm travelling on Amtrak's premium Acela Express service. The journey is far bumpier than I remember from past journeys. Also, the chair won't stay upright and the armrest keeps falling down. However, it it does have wi-fi and power for my laptop, so I was able to upload all the photos from the Botanic Garden and from Sunday's softball game - and write this blog entry! It's just under three hours, and we stop en route at Baltimore, Wilmington, Philadelphia and Newark.
Having looked at the subway map, I can see that there is no accessible entrance or exit at the nearest subway stop to my hotel, so I'll have to get off one stop earlier at 72nd St and walk the remaining blocks up to 77th St, instead of just getting off at 79th. Fortunately, it's a direct service from 34th St Penn Station up there, so the journey shouldn't be too difficult.
We've just left Philadelphia, so it should be just an hour more to New York.
