Washington Nationals @ Miami Marlins (3)

Sunday's game was a day game, so I finally had a chance to see the stadium close-up in the light of day. There are lots of palm trees around the stadium - as there are all over Miami - and other tree species as well, for variety. The plaza outside the stadium isn't all that large, but they do have a small concert stage in the plaza in front of the stadium that often has musical acts playing after the games. It's actually quite difficult to get far enough away from the stadium to take a decent photograph of it, as there is a busy road and the car parks on the other side, which on game days are extremely busy, of course.
After the experience of not being able to find the trolley in Arlington last year, I had worried about finding the taxi rank in the dark after the first game - but I need not have worried, because as soon as you come out of the gate, the road in front of you is full of taxis waiting!
You can see in the third picture the supports for the roof, which slides off as a whole, rather than concertinaing up.
The final game of the series saw the Nationals' young star Stephen Strasburg up against the Marlins' Jacob Turner. This was a far more balanced game than the previous two, with the lead changing back and forth a few times, not always thanks to timely hitting. In the second inning, Strasburg was called not just once, but twice for a balk. Unfortunately for him, there was a runner on third each time, so that gave up a couple of cheap runs that gave Miami an early lead. However, they gave it up again, and despite having many chances in the late innings, with the tying run in scoring position on more than one occasion, the Washington Nationals wrapped up the win for Strasburg, with Soriano picking up another save.
Since I was around closer to the plate for today's game, as I am for tomorrow's game against Atlanta, I could see the fish tank that's actually in the wall behind the plate. You can see it in the picture here - I've not seen anything like that at any of the other stadia I've visited so far.
