Today was the middle game of the three game series, and it was a day game. Fortunately, I was further round on the 1st base side of the club area today which was already in shade by the 1.05pm start time. Having got a photo of legendary Dodgers announcer Vin Scully yesterday, today I got a photo of Giants announcer Jon Miller.

This game started with a run for San Francisco in the bottom of the first, but good economical pitching from Matt Cain for the Giants and Chris Capuano for the Dodgers meant that the game fairly flew along - we had the 7th inning stretch just about an hour and a half after first pitch! After that, things slowed down and the final game time finished at just a few minutes short of three hours. The Dodgers got the early run back, the Giants went ahead again, the Dodgers tied it and then scored in the 9th with a lead-off triple that was scored on a subsequent double by Hanley Ramirez and they held on for a 3-2 victory. The crowd was less excited during leaving the ball park today.

One of the things done at several ballparks is to have a child introduce the batters for one inning for the home team - usually, just the first three, in case it turns out to be a long half-inning! Today was the chance of the young daughter of Giants lead-off hitter Angel Pagan, who was able to announce the start of the inning by saying:
Leading off for the San Francisco Giants, number 16, my daddy, Angel Pagan!
Each announcement was followed by a hugely enthusiastic wave and she got a huge cheer for each one. She was somewhat lucky that the other names she had to announce were Marco Scutaro and Pablo Sandoval. I saw the same feature in Milwaukee too, except the poor young boy was lumbered with Yovani Gallardo (pronounced Guy-arr-doe), then Norichika Aoki before finally having the simpler Rickie Weeks. If he could have done the following inning he would have had the much simpler task of Ryan Braun, Aramis Ramirez and Corey Hart!
