New York to Seattle

Today was my first transit day, as I travelled from New York across the country to Seattle.  It was extremely wet today in New York, it stopped the tennis, and it stopped me going out in the morning, which was a shame, as my flight didn't leave until 5.45pm!  In the end, it did clear up briefly at around lunchtime, so I was able to go out to lunch, but then it started again.

Fortunately, I'd been able to negotiate a later check-out time with the hotel, so I could remain in my room until 2pm, and then wait out the rain in the hotel lobby, until just after 3.  It takes a little while to get there, but in the end, I was there in plenty of time.  This flight left the gate just about on time, but we spent 40 minutes taxiing about Newark airport.

The actual flying time was 5 and a quarter hours, and it was dark by the time we landed in Seattle, and raining.  The light rail trip was easy and I walked down the hill one block to the hotel, with the rain having mostly left off.

I have a nice corner room with a view over Elliott Bay, past a few other buildings, and I can see the Seahawks' stadium through the other window - the Mariners' stadium is just behind that, so it's reasonably close.
